I have just returned from a 7-day wellness retreat in the warm climes of the Gold Coast at a stunning place called Gwinganna.
I booked it for one day in October 2021. A day when the weight of lockdowns made it hard for me to get out of bed. So I didn’t. But as we know, one of the components of happiness is having something to look forward to, so I booked my 7-day retreat. Like many of us, I had spent some time not booking anything because the losses were relentless, but I realised on that day that I needed something to look forward to more than I cared about the possible loss of that thing.
I had been to Gwinganna as a celebration gift after publishing my first book Raw Beauty, so I also timed this visit for after the launch of POWER and when most of the high-energy book events and travel were over.
Another gift to myself was doing the whole 7-day retreat in silence. I have attended a Vipassana 10-day silent retreat, where everyone is silent, but in this case, I was the only one in silence. The only word I can use to describe this whole experience is exquisite.
There is power in taking full responsibility for our wellness. Our health. Our pause.
So this is the theme of this month’s 3 questions, a chance for you to check in on your wellness.
